POLK COUNTY, FL -- The Polk Regional Water Cooperative (PRWC) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $10 million grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to strengthen regional water infrastructure. This investment highlights the state’s ongoing commitment to ensuring sustainable and resilient water resources for the residents of Polk County. The $10 million awarded to the PRWC was a part of a $55 million Alternative Water Supply Grants program shared across fourteen reclaimed water, aquifer recharge, and water conservation projects.
“This investment is another step forward in our mission to develop innovative and sustainable water solutions for Polk County,” said Eric DeHaven, PRWC Executive Director. “With continued collaboration and support from our state funding partners, we are confident in our ability to deliver alternative water supplies, protect natural resources, and meet the growing water needs of Polk County.
The PRWC, in partnership with local governments and agencies, plays a crucial role in managing and protecting water resources through regional cooperation. This FDEP funding will aid in advancing projects that align with Florida’s broader efforts to support water sustainability and environmental conservation.
